Chellie Awards Medals to WWII Veteran 6 Decades Later

Chellie Pinning Francois SevignyThis past Thursday, August 19, Chellie had the honor of awarding 84-year-old Francois Sevigny of Springvale medals he earned but never received for his service during World War II. Earlier this month, Mr. Sevigny's family contacted Chellie's office to recover his medals. Chellie awarded him with the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Star, WWII Victory medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.

While calls like his don't happen often, finding lost or never awarded medals is one of the many services Chellie's office offers veterans. “We generally have pretty good success,” said Chellie. “It’s something our office believes is very important to do. It’s always a wonderful thing to see the veteran and their family, and see how proud they are of their service.”
